Sin reseñas aún

Anfield is Liverpool FC's home since 1892 and one of the most emotionally loaded stadiums on the planet. "You'll Never Walk Alone" before kickoff is one of sport's most iconic rituals. With 61,276 seats after the Anfield Road Stand expansion, it remains a European fortress feared by any opponent.

History and architecture

Built in 1884 and initially used by Everton until 1892, when the owner founded Liverpool FC. Archibald Leitch designed much of the original ground. The iconic Spion Kop went up in 1906 and became the club's emblem. Recent works — the Main Stand redeveloped in 2016 and the Anfield Road Stand expanded in 2024 — pushed capacity past 61,000.

Iconic moments

Anfield saw Bill Shankly rebuild the club in the 60s, the 4-0 comeback against Barcelona in 2019 on the way to Champions League glory, the years of Rush, Dalglish and Souness, and the Klopp era. The anthem sung before kickoff dates from the 60s when the Kop adopted the Gerry and the Pacemakers song. It has also hosted Euro 96 games and concerts by Coldplay and Taylor Swift.

Getting there and matchday tips

There is no nearby underground. Best options are the Soccerbus 917 from Sandhills Station (Merseyrail), or buses 26, 27 and 917 from central Liverpool. Taxi takes 15 minutes. Arrive 60 minutes early: Walton Breck Road pubs (The Albert, The Park) hold the pre-match crowd. Residential parking is scarce.

Where to sit and what to eat

The Kop (Spion Kop) is the home of the anthems and flags. The redeveloped Main Stand offers hospitality with central views and catering. Anfield Road End completes the atmosphere at the ends. Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand has good sightlines at more accessible prices. Concourse: scouse pie (local stew), fish & chips, chicken balti and English ale.
