Stamford Bridge

London, England 40,341
Sin reseñas aún

Stamford Bridge is Chelsea FC's historic home since 1905 and one of the most urban, compact stadiums in the Premier League. With 40,341 seats, located on Fulham Road, it is a Blues fortress with European history and a must-stop on any London football tour.

History and architecture

It was built in 1877 for athletics and converted for football in 1905, when it was first offered to Fulham; after their refusal, Chelsea itself was founded. Originally designed by Archibald Leitch, it has been through several redevelopments — East Stand in the 70s, the full expansion in the 90s after Ken Bates' arrival and the redevelopment currently under review by the Boehly-Clearlake ownership.

Iconic moments

This is where Chelsea's five Premier League titles were sealed (2005, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2017), where Roman Abramovich's European nights unfolded and where the 2012 Champions League was celebrated after being won in Munich. It has seen the Mourinho era, the 4-1 comeback against PSG and FA Cup finals played here before Wembley. Concerts by Bruce Springsteen and The Who have also been staged here.

Getting there and matchday tips

Easiest access is Fulham Broadway (Metro District line), a 3-minute walk. Earl's Court (District/Piccadilly) and Imperial Wharf (Overground) also serve the ground with a longer walk. Avoid driving: parking is scarce and residential controls apply. Arrive 60 minutes early; Fulham Road pubs (The Butcher's Hook — where the club was founded — and The Rylston) hold the pre-match crowd.

Where to sit and what to eat

Matthew Harding Stand (North) is the heart of Chelsea's atmosphere, with the loudest chants. Shed End (South) is the traditional counterpart. East and West Stand offer lateral views with hospitality (Millennium Suite, Tambling Suite). Concourse: classic pies, burgers, fish & chips, Estrella Damm and expanded vegetarian options.
